Liposuction Surgery in Cambridge
Liposuction can be an ideal procedure for women and men who are at or near their ideal body weight, but have stubborn pockets of fat that just won’t shift however stringent their diet and exercise routine.

He has done an amazing job on two vivid scars I had on my face.
Nikki the Practice Manager is great, a thoroughly professional and welcoming Clinic. I would recommend them to anyone.

Mr Ahmad is able to tackle a number of different areas on the face and body; this includes the stomach, chest, hips, flanks, buttocks, thighs, knees, upper arms and around the chin and neck. Liposuction can also be combined with a wide range of other surgical procedures to get the optimal aesthetic result.
It is important to realise that this is not a weight loss procedure – it is only suitable for small pockets of fat. During your consultation with Mr Ahmad, he will take a full medical history and run through your expectations from the procedure to ensure they are realistic.
What is Liposuction?
There are a number of different ways to carry out liposuction. A cannula is inserted which breaks up and then suctions out the fat cells, but tumescent liposuction is where a fluid is injected into the area first which can lessen bruising and swelling post-procedure. There are also machines which can be used to heat the fat cells before they are suctioned out which also helps lessen any downtime.
Depending on the extent of the procedure, liposuction can be carried out either under general or local Anaesthetic and you may either be discharged on the same day or kept in overnight for assessment.
What are the benefits of facelift surgery?
A facelift offers several benefits for those seeking to address signs of facial ageing. Benefits include:
- Lift and tighten sagging skin in the mid and lower face
- Soften deep folds and wrinkles, including smile lines and nasolabial folds
- Reduce creases beneath the lower eyelids
- Improve the appearance of jowls along the jawline
- Enhanced muscle tone and reduction of laxity in the midface and chin area
- Reduction of redundant skin and creases in the neck
Am I a good candidate for facelift surgery?
You may be a suitable candidate for facelift surgery if you’re noticing signs of ageing such as sagging skin, deep folds, jowls, or a loss of definition in the face and neck. Ideal candidates should also be in good general health, do not smoke (or are willing to not smoke before surgery), and have realistic expectations about what a facelift can achieve.

Risks and potential complications of facelift surgery
While facelift surgery is generally safe when performed by an experienced plastic surgeon, the specific risks vary depending on the type of facelift, the extent of the procedure, and your individual health. Potential risks and complications may include:
- Bruising and swelling
- Infection
- Scarring
- Bleeding or haematoma
- Numbness or changes in skin sensation
- Asymmetry or irregularities in contour as tissues heal
- Nerve injury, which is rare but can affect movement or sensation
Mr Ahmad will discuss these risks with you in detail during your consultation so you can make a fully informed decision about your treatment.
Liposuction Aftercare
- Swelling and bruising will be present in the areas where liposuction has been performed. This will gradually reduce over 4 to 6 weeks.
- You will need to wear an elasticated pressure garment for 6 to 8 weeks after surgery.
- The garment will help to contour the area as the swelling and bruising diminishes and is therefore a vital part of your aftercare.
- You will need to rest the area and should avoid strenuous activity for at least 4 weeks (walking and gentle stretching is fine).
- Stitches are removed or dissolve on their own within 7 to 14 days after surgery.
- Take painkillers as directed, these are usually Paracetamol-based. Please avoid taking any Aspirin-based medications as these can cause bleeding.
- If you are prescribed antibiotics, it is important that you complete the course.
- Depending on your job, you should be able to return to work within 1 week of surgery.
- Please refrain from smoking as this prevents good wound healing.
- Your scars will be firm and pink for at least 6 weeks. These will improve and fade over a period of several months. You will be given scar care advice re: massage, use of creams and oils and silicone gel dressings at your follow-up appointments.
- Scars should be protected from sun exposure, for at least the first year following surgery, by either keeping the scars covered or by using total sun block.
- Should you experience undue pain, redness, hardening, a raised temperature or feel unwell, please contact the hospital where you had your procedure, or your Consultant directly if you have been requested to do so.

What areas of the face and body can Liposuction treat?
It is said that generally once you are born your fat cells do not divide or multiply. So if fat cells are removed from the body via Liposuction, the remaining fat cells to not divide to replace the lost ones. However, the fat cells that are left behind can individually take on more fat within them and so enlarge, if your diet and lifestyle are such that you are putting on weight. However there is scarring produced around the fat cells in areas where there has been Liposuction so that although you can put weight back on there, it is harder to do so and as such the results of Liposuction should stand the test of time with a healthy lifestyle.
Can Liposuction get rid of Cellulite?
Sadly Liposuction is not a good treatment for Cellulite. Liposuction can be undertaken in different ways and at different levels under the skin, this depends on what you and the surgeon are trying to achieve. Cellulite is a condition that is sited very superficially in the skin. Some types of superficial Liposuction may achieve an improvement in the skin in terms of elasticity and the potential for shrinkage after surgery but generally speaking, if your main aims are towards Cellulite then you will be best advised to look to technologies other than Liposuction.
Are Liposuction results permanent?
It is said that generally once you are born your fat cells do not divide or multiply.
