i had my breast reduction surgery last year and just had my last appointment today! Rhinoplasty Recovery Timeline

Recovery following rhinoplasty or septorhinoplasty is gradual, with improvement becoming more noticeable as swelling subsides over time.

First Week

Rest & Recovery

Get plenty of rest during the first few days. A splint is typically worn to support the nose, with a follow-up appointment scheduled during the week for review and removal. Swelling and bruising around the eyes and nose usually peak and begin to settle by the end of the week. Most patients no longer require prescription pain medication after the first few days.

Week 2

Initial Healing

Expect some residual swelling and mild bruising, although this is often improving. You may notice a feeling of congestion, numbness, or tightness around the nose. By the end of the second week, many patients feel comfortable returning to normal day-to-day activities and social settings.

Weeks 3 to 4

Return to Activities

Most patients can return to non-strenuous work and routines. While subtle swelling may still be present, it is usually less noticeable and can often be concealed. As healing progresses, the shape of the nose becomes more defined. Light exercise can typically be resumed gradually, avoiding any risk of impact to the nose.

30 Days and Beyond

Full Recovery

By this stage, much of the visible swelling has settled, and there are fewer restrictions on daily activities. The nose will continue to refine over the coming months, with final results developing gradually. Most patients feel comfortable attending social events and important occasions, although for significant events, it is advisable to allow several months for optimal healing.
