Range of treatments
We have a number of treatment options, from chemical peels to laser skin rejuvenation, to deal with lacklustre, grey complexions or poor skin texture.
Chemical peels are one of the oldest treatments for resurfacing skin and work by applying a solution which makes the top layer of skin blister and peel away.
The new skin underneath is smoother and generally less wrinkled than the older skin. Whilst it’s generally rejuvenating and will improve the look and feel of the skin it’s particularly good for reducing fine lines under the eyes and mouth, tackling sun damage and scars and even treating certain types of acne.
What is laser skin resurfacing?
Laser skin resurfacing (LSR) is growing in popularity, not least because of the ongoing developments in the technology. Like the chemical peel LSR can help with scarring sun damage and reducing wrinkles. In this case the laser is applied directly to the skin, which removes the outermost layer.
Normally the procedure will be carried out under a local or general anaesthetic and the patient can expect some initial discomfort whilst a crust forms on the surface but after this sheds the new skin is revealed.
The procedure also stimulates the production of collagen which is generally beneficial to healthy skin and will continue to have positive effects over time.
