Pre-Operative Guidelines

Proper preparation is essential for a safe procedure and smooth recovery.
Please follow these guidelines carefully in the weeks leading up to your appointment.

Preparation Checklist

Important Reminders

Recovery & Aftercare

Recovery varies depending on the procedure, but our team provides detailed aftercare instructions tailored to you. Below is a general timeline to help you understand what to expect during your healing journey.

Day 1–3

Rest is essential. Mild swelling, bruising, and discomfort are normal. Take prescribed medications as directed and keep your head elevated.

Week 1

Attend your follow-up appointment for wound checks. Light walking is encouraged. Avoid bending, lifting, or strenuous activity.

Weeks 2–4

Bruising and swelling continue to subside. Most patients return to desk-based work after 1–2 weeks depending on your procedure. Continue wearing compression garments if advised.

Months 1–3

Gradual return to normal activities, including exercise. Final results begin to emerge as tissues settle and heal.

Months 3–12

Scars continue to mature and fade. Follow-up consultations ensure optimal healing and satisfaction with results.

* Recovery timelines are general guides. Individual results vary depending on the procedure type, patient anatomy, healing response, and adherence to post-operative guidance.

Clinic Policies

heading

Please familiarise yourself with our clinic policies to ensure a smooth experience.

Cancellation Policy

We require a minimum of 48 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Late cancellations (less than 48 hours) or missed appointments may incur a fee. Surgical procedure cancellations within 14 days of the scheduled date may result in a partial or full loss of the booking deposit.

Consent & Cooling-Off Period

In accordance with best practice, we observe a minimum 14-day cooling-off period between your consultation and any surgical procedure. Written informed consent will be obtained, and you are encouraged to ask questions at any time. You have the right to withdraw consent at any stage.

Medical Records & Confidentiality

All patient records are maintained securely in compliance with GDPR and NHS data protection standards. Clinical photographs taken during your treatment are stored securely and will only be used with your explicit written consent.

Complaints Procedure

We are committed to resolving any concerns promptly. If you have a complaint, please contact our Practice Manager in the first instance. We aim to acknowledge all complaints within 48 hours and provide a full response within 20 working days. Formal complaints can also be escalated to the CQC.

Deposit & Payment Terms

A non-refundable deposit is required to secure your procedure date. The remaining balance is due in full on or before the day of your procedure. Finance applications must be approved before a procedure date can be confirmed.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I book a consultation?

You can book a consultation by calling us on 01223 214 960, filling out our online contact form, or emailing us directly. Our patient coordinators will schedule an appointment at a time that suits you.

Your consultation is an unhurried conversation, not a sales appointment. Mr Ahmad will listen to what is concerning you and what you hope to achieve, take a full medical history, and examine the area you would like treated. He will then explain which options are realistic for you, what each one involves, the recovery you should expect and the risks and limitations you need to weigh up.

Clinical photographs may be taken for your records, with your consent. You will leave with a detailed written quote and clear information to take away, and you are always welcome to bring someone with you.

Nobody is asked to make a decision on the day. A second consultation is included at no extra cost once you have had time to reflect, so you can return with any questions before deciding whether to go ahead.

Yes. A consultation fee reflects the time and expertise involved in a full assessment with a consultant plastic surgeon, and it is charged for the appointment rather than for any treatment.

Our current fees are:

  • Initial surgical consultation with Mr Ahmad (60 minutes) — £250
  • Initial consultation to discuss two procedures (90 minutes) — £400
  • Short consultation for mole removal, skin tags, fillers or anti-wrinkle injections — £225
  • Initial consultation with Miss O’Leary — £180
  • Initial consultation with our nurse — £60
  • Skincare consultation — £35
  • Sedation (via Advanced Sedation) — Paid directly to Advanced Sedation — £350 per hour
  • Initial consultation for returning patients — £225
  • Follow-up consultation — £180

Your second consultation, after you have had time to consider the information given to you, is complimentary. Full details are on our pricing page, and our team will confirm the applicable fee when you book.

We observe a minimum 14-day cooling-off period between your consultation and any surgical procedure, in line with professional best practice in the UK. This is a deliberate pause, not a formality: it gives you time to read through your written quote and information pack, discuss it with family or your GP, and decide without any pressure.

During this period you can return for a complimentary second consultation to go over anything again. You may also withdraw your consent at any point, right up to the moment of surgery, and you never need to explain why.

For non-surgical treatments, a cooling-off period may also apply depending on the treatment, and your practitioner will explain this at your consultation.

It depends on the procedure and its extent, and this will be agreed with you before you consent to anything.

Many smaller procedures are carried out in our clinic under local anaesthetic as a day case, so you are awake but comfortable and can go home the same day. Mole removal, skin tag removal, cyst removal, scar revision and eyelid surgery are usually done this way, sometimes with sedation for added comfort.

Larger operations such as a tummy tuck, breast surgery or rhinoplasty are performed under general anaesthetic at a local independent hospital, with an overnight stay of one or two nights.

Some procedures can be done either way. Where sedation is used it is provided by a specialist sedation team, and any separate cost for this will be set out clearly in your written quote. Mr Ahmad will talk you through the options, the reasons for his recommendation and what each involves at your consultation.

This varies considerably by procedure, and how quickly you return also depends on how physical your job is.

As a general guide:

  • Non-surgical treatments such as anti-wrinkle injections, dermal fillers, laser hair reduction, LED therapy and facials — no time off; most people return to work the same day
  • Skin tag removal — 1 to 2 days
  • Mole removal, cyst removal and scar revision — up to 7 days
  • Fat transfer — around 10 days
  • Eyelid surgery, mini facelift, neck lift, liposuction, labiaplasty and chin or cheek augmentation — around 2 weeks
  • Facelift, rhinoplasty, ear surgery, tummy tuck and breast surgery — around 2 to 3 weeks

Desk-based work is usually possible sooner than manual work, driving or exercise, and we will give you specific guidance for your procedure and your circumstances. If you have an important event coming up, we recommend allowing at least six weeks between your surgery and the date.

We understand that plans change. Please give us as much notice as you can by calling 01223 214 960 or emailing info@cambridgeclearbeauty.co.uk, and we will do our best to find you another time.

We ask for a minimum of 48 hours’ notice to cancel or move a consultation. Appointments cancelled with less notice, or missed without notice, may incur a fee.

For surgery, a non-refundable deposit secures your date, and the balance is due on or before the day of your procedure. Cancelling a surgical procedure within 14 days of the scheduled date may result in the partial or full loss of that deposit, as theatre time and the surgical team will already have been reserved. If you need to postpone for medical reasons, please speak to us as early as possible so we can discuss your options.

No, and any clinic that tells you otherwise should be treated with caution. Surgery and aesthetic treatments work with living tissue, and outcomes depend on your anatomy, your skin quality, your age and general health, how your body heals and how closely you follow your aftercare instructions. Two people having the same procedure can heal differently.

What we can promise is an honest assessment of what is realistically achievable for you, a surgeon who will tell you if a procedure is not in your interest, and thorough aftercare — including up to five follow-up appointments — to give you the best possible chance of a good result.

Occasionally a result may need refining, or a complication may arise. If that happens we will discuss it with you openly and explain your options. The before and after photographs on our website are of real patients who have consented to their use, but they illustrate individual outcomes rather than a promise of what you will achieve.
