Mr Ahmad performed a blepharoplasty 6 weeks ago. I now feel so much better can’t believe I left it so long. The difference is amazing.
I can highly recommend both him and his clinic team. My experience from start to finish was professional friendly and not at any point did a worry or feel nervous.
Thank you

I’m so happy with my experience and results. Not only has my breathing improved significantly, but aesthetically my nose looks so natural that no one would ever guess I’ve had anything done—which was really important to me. My face looks more balanced, softer, and overall more youthful.

Mr Ahmad has a real artistic eye, and that made all the difference. He didn’t just focus on changing my nose, but on how it would harmonise with the rest of my features. The result is a subtle, cute nose that genuinely suits my face.

I also really appreciated how straightforward and manageable the aftercare was—it made the whole process feel much less overwhelming. Overall, I feel more confident, more comfortable in myself, and I can finally breathe properly. I couldn’t have asked for a better outcome.

Thank you
I have lost two close relatives to malignant melanoma. I was referred on by my GP for ‘ urgent skin cancer assessment’ of a suspicious mark on my face. NHS. It was a two week wait for a photo then a predicted 3 week wait for a result sent to me by text. With fair Scots skin and family history, l struggled with what would be a 5 week wait just for a diagnosis.

I made an appointment at the clinic. I got an appointment and a result within days. Thankfully negative. The result was told to me by a person, not the text message the NHS promised. I also got skin care advice and a prescription for previously undetected sun damage which l greatly appreciate. I was treated with utmost kindness and courtesy. I am so grateful that l heard your radio advert offering this service.

I underwent a rhinoplasty surgery with Mr Ahmad over 3 years ago.

Preparation for the surgery could have been more thorough. I was unaware of extent of recovery timeline and importantly, what this could look like. I had swelling for well over two years and even now the tip is still refining. I understand now how complex a surgery this is.

In hindsight I wish Mr Ahmad, like the majority of other surgeons as I understand, had provided an image or drawing of what he had in mind prior to the surgery.

The early recovery was hard, I had a lot of swelling, bruising, and looked completely unrecognisable. This was somewhat expected though did seem at the more severe end of the scale. The surgery took 4.5 hours.

Following the surgery I was left with an asymmetrical residual hump, depression through centre of nose, retracted nostrils and a large scar on one nostril through error of Mr Ahmad as I understand, though he was never forthcoming in explaining reasoning. I felt it had a ‘done’ look and could have been more natural. After the surgery, as I was not entirely happy with the result given the above, and ironically at this stage and not before, Mr Ahmad suggested therapy or that I may have body dysmorphia, to correct the relationship with my nose. Therapy was not offered prior to the surgery of course. I felt very much gaslit and on meeting with other practitioners concerns were understood and addressed.

Another insensitive moment came when I mentioned perhaps spending too much time on Instagram, where content served to me is focused on appearance. Mr Ahmad replied they liked Instagram, alluding to it’s how they make their money.

Mr Ahmad offered to correct the scar on my nostril, which improved it somewhat though not entirely it is still visible. Ironically during the procedure Mr Ahmad nearly nipped my lip with the scissors, much to the nurse’s surprise. Not the comforting attention to detail of a surgeon.

I had a septorhinoplasty with Mr Ahmad to correct a post-traumatic deviated septum. I had undergone surgery when I was younger, but it hadn’t fully resolved the breathing issues in one nostril, and I was also self-conscious about my nose profile.

From the very beginning, Mr Ahmad took the time to listen carefully and make detailed notes, even producing incredibly precise drawings to capture what we discussed. His insights into what would suit my face best were invaluable, and it’s clear that his experience and knowledge guided the outcome.

The results have been outstanding. My nose has healed beautifully, with a natural appearance that feels completely in harmony with my features. Most importantly, I can now breathe freely through both nostrils, which has made a huge difference to my day-to-day life—improving sleep, exercise, and overall wellbeing.

What impressed me further was that Mr Ahmad was able to achieve this through a closed approach, which I understand is particularly challenging, but a testament to his years of expertise and recognition in the field.

Equally, the team around him were fantastic throughout the process. I always felt reassured, supported, and in safe hands at every stage of my treatment.

I am absolutely delighted with the outcome and would wholeheartedly recommend Mr Ahmad. His skill, professionalism, and care have been exceptional.

I had my top eyelids trimmed back and my bottom eyebags removed.
I did have extensive bruising that was explained by Mr Ahmad would happen. My top eyelids healed fairly quickly but the bottom eyebags are more difficult. Mr Ahmad and Nikki have always answered my questions and have always seen me regularly or when iv had a worry and eased my concerns.
Overall, my eyes are healing now, and after 3 months are doing well and looking much better. Mr Ahmad told me it could take up to a year for my healing process to end.
As it is an invasive surgery I can understand why, but thankfully its getting there and I'm pleased with how my results are starting to look.
I trust Mr Ahmad 100% as he has always been very professional and kind.

If you’ve noticed a prominent bump or ridge along your nasal bridge, you may have a dorsal nose hump. This occurs when excess bone, cartilage or both create a raised area along the upper portion of the nose, typically where the nasal bones meet the upper lateral cartilage.

A dorsal hump is a cosmetic concern that doesn’t affect overall breathing function. Many people, however, find that it affects facial balance, particularly when the bump draws attention or makes the nose appear disproportionately large.

At Cambridge Clear Beauty, Mr Ahmad can reduce a dorsal hump through rhinoplasty surgery. As some patients prefer a straighter nasal bridge, while others want a softer, more subtle contour, every procedure is personalised and tailored to individual needs.

What is a Dorsal Nose Hump?

heading
Dorsal Hump Nose | Dorsal Hump Nose Removal Cost | Nose Job Dorsal Hump

A dorsal nose hump is a raised bump or convex curve along the bridge of the nose that creates an irregular profile rather than a smooth, straight line from the forehead to the nasal tip. This prominence is caused by excess bone in the upper portion of the bridge, excess cartilage in the middle portion, or a combination of both.

Visually, this appears as a noticeable bump when viewed from the side, a thickened or elevated bridge when viewed from the front, or a curved rather than straight nasal profile that can make the nose appear larger or more prominent than desired.

In mild cases, the hump may be subtle, creating a slightly curved profile that’s only noticeable in certain lighting or from specific angles. In more pronounced cases, the hump can create a distinct bump that significantly affects the nasal profile and overall facial balance.

What Causes a Dorsal Nose Hump?

heading

A dorsal nose hump results from excess bone or cartilage development along the nasal bridge due to genetics, developmental factors, trauma or natural nasal anatomy.

Genetics and Inherited Nasal Structure

The most common cause of a dorsal hump is genetics. If family members have prominent nasal bridges or dorsal humps, you’re more likely to inherit a similar bone and cartilage structure.

Genetic factors determine the size and shape of the nasal bones, the thickness and projection of the upper lateral cartilages and the overall framework that creates the nasal profile. These inherited traits are present from birth and become more apparent as the nose develops during adolescence.

Natural Bone and Cartilage Development

During puberty, the nasal bones and cartilages develop at different rates and to varying degrees. Some people naturally develop more prominent nasal bones or thicker upper lateral cartilages, creating a raised area along the bridge.

Nasal Trauma and Injury

A previous nose injury can cause a dorsal hump to develop or worsen if the nasal bones heal with excess callus formation (new bone growth at the fracture site). A broken nose that wasn’t properly set may also heal with a bump along the bridge. Even minor trauma that didn’t seem significant at the time can lead to irregular healing and a visible hump years later.

Previous Nasal Surgery

In some cases, a dorsal hump can develop after previous rhinoplasty if too much cartilage or bone was removed, if the bridge healed unevenly, or if scar tissue formed along the nasal bridge. A revision rhinoplasty may be required to correct these issues.

Should I Consider Treatment for a Dorsal Nose Hump?

heading

The decision to treat a dorsal hump is entirely personal and depends on how much it bothers you and what outcome you hope to achieve.

When the Hump Bothers You

Many people consider treatment when they feel self-conscious about their profile in photographs or when the bump draws unwanted attention. There’s no right or wrong about whether you should seek treatment; the decision is entirely up to you.

When It Affects Facial Proportions

The nasal bridge is a prominent feature that significantly affects overall facial balance. A dorsal hump can make the nose appear larger than it is and dominate other facial features. Reducing the hump through rhinoplasty can create better facial harmony, often making the nose appear smaller.

Setting Realistic Expectations

Most dorsal humps can be significantly reduced or completely eliminated, but the extent of reduction possible depends on your bone structure, skin thickness and the size of the hump. During your consultation at Cambridge Clear Beauty, Mr Ahmad will discuss what’s realistically achievable for your specific anatomy and help you understand what to expect from both the procedure and the recovery process.

Treatment Options for a Dorsal Nose Hump at Cambridge Clear Beauty

heading

Surgery is the only effective way to reduce a dorsal hump and create a smoother nasal profile.

Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty is the primary treatment for dorsal hump reduction. Mr Ahmad removes excess bone and cartilage from the nasal bridge using techniques such as rasping or filing, trimming excess cartilage from the upper lateral cartilages, and repositioning the nasal bones, if needed, to create a smoother, natural contour.

The procedure can be performed using either a closed approach (where incisions are placed inside the nose, leaving no visible scarring) or an open approach (where a small incision is made across the columella to provide enhanced visibility and precision). Mr Ahmad determines which approach is most suitable based on your individual anatomy and the extent of reduction needed.

Rhinoplasty with Nasal Tip Refinement

When a dorsal hump occurs alongside other nasal concerns such as a drooping tip, bulbous tip or nasal asymmetry, addressing multiple areas together creates the most harmonious result. Mr Ahmad often combines dorsal hump reduction with tip refinement to create a more balanced and proportionate overall nasal shape.

Revision Rhinoplasty

Revision rhinoplasty is designed for patients who remain unhappy with the appearance or function of their nose after a previous procedure. As revision cases involve scar tissue, altered anatomy and previous surgical changes, they are often more complex than primary rhinoplasty.

Careful assessment and planning are essential to understand what can realistically be improved and how the nose can be reshaped while maintaining support and function. Mr Ahmad takes an individualised approach to every revision rhinoplasty procedure, focusing on achieving a more balanced, natural-looking result while being honest about what is achievable based on the existing nasal structure.

What causes a dorsal hump on a nose?

A dorsal hump is primarily caused by genetics, which determines the size and shape of the nasal bones and upper lateral cartilages that form the bridge. Additional factors include natural bone and cartilage development during adolescence, previous nasal trauma that caused irregular bone healing or complications from previous rhinoplasty.

The only effective way to remove a dorsal hump is through rhinoplasty surgery, where the surgeon removes excess bone and cartilage from the nasal bridge to create a smoother, straighter profile. Non-surgical treatments such as dermal fillers cannot remove a dorsal hump and only camouflage it temporarily by adding volume to the surrounding areas, and may make the nose appear larger overall.

A dorsal hump is removed during rhinoplasty by carefully reshaping the bone and cartilage along the nasal bridge. This may involve reducing the bony prominence, refining cartilage and repositioning the nasal bones to create a smoother contour. At Cambridge Clear Beauty, Mr Ahmad uses a tailored approach to create a balanced result while maintaining the nose’s structure and support.

The cost of dorsal hump removal can vary depending on the amount of reduction required, whether other areas of the nose are being reshaped and the overall complexity of the procedure. As rhinoplasty for a dorsal hump is usually considered cosmetic, it is generally self-funded. A personalised quotation is usually provided after a consultation.

Yes, removing a dorsal hump typically makes the nose appear smaller and more refined, even though only the bridge has been reduced. This is because the hump creates projection and draws attention, making the entire nose seem larger and more prominent. By creating a smoother, straighter profile, the nose appears more balanced and proportionate to the face, often dramatically improving overall facial harmony without requiring other changes to the nose.
