Tummy Tuck Surgery (Abdominoplasty) in Cambridge
The tummy is often seen as a problem area, as it can be difficult to tone up, particularly as you age.

I can highly recommend both him and his clinic team. My experience from start to finish was professional friendly and not at any point did a worry or feel nervous.
Thank you

Mr Ahmad has a real artistic eye, and that made all the difference. He didn’t just focus on changing my nose, but on how it would harmonise with the rest of my features. The result is a subtle, cute nose that genuinely suits my face.
I also really appreciated how straightforward and manageable the aftercare was—it made the whole process feel much less overwhelming. Overall, I feel more confident, more comfortable in myself, and I can finally breathe properly. I couldn’t have asked for a better outcome.

I have lost two close relatives to malignant melanoma. I was referred on by my GP for ‘ urgent skin cancer assessment’ of a suspicious mark on my face. NHS. It was a two week wait for a photo then a predicted 3 week wait for a result sent to me by text. With fair Scots skin and family history, l struggled with what would be a 5 week wait just for a diagnosis.
I made an appointment at the clinic. I got an appointment and a result within days. Thankfully negative. The result was told to me by a person, not the text message the NHS promised. I also got skin care advice and a prescription for previously undetected sun damage which l greatly appreciate. I was treated with utmost kindness and courtesy. I am so grateful that l heard your radio advert offering this service.

Preparation for the surgery could have been more thorough. I was unaware of extent of recovery timeline and importantly, what this could look like. I had swelling for well over two years and even now the tip is still refining. I understand now how complex a surgery this is.
In hindsight I wish Mr Ahmad, like the majority of other surgeons as I understand, had provided an image or drawing of what he had in mind prior to the surgery.
The early recovery was hard, I had a lot of swelling, bruising, and looked completely unrecognisable. This was somewhat expected though did seem at the more severe end of the scale. The surgery took 4.5 hours.
Following the surgery I was left with an asymmetrical residual hump, depression through centre of nose, retracted nostrils and a large scar on one nostril through error of Mr Ahmad as I understand, though he was never forthcoming in explaining reasoning. I felt it had a ‘done’ look and could have been more natural. After the surgery, as I was not entirely happy with the result given the above, and ironically at this stage and not before, Mr Ahmad suggested therapy or that I may have body dysmorphia, to correct the relationship with my nose. Therapy was not offered prior to the surgery of course. I felt very much gaslit and on meeting with other practitioners concerns were understood and addressed.
Another insensitive moment came when I mentioned perhaps spending too much time on Instagram, where content served to me is focused on appearance. Mr Ahmad replied they liked Instagram, alluding to it’s how they make their money.
Mr Ahmad offered to correct the scar on my nostril, which improved it somewhat though not entirely it is still visible. Ironically during the procedure Mr Ahmad nearly nipped my lip with the scissors, much to the nurse’s surprise. Not the comforting attention to detail of a surgeon.

He has done an amazing job on two vivid scars I had on my face.
Nikki the Practice Manager is great, a thoroughly professional and welcoming Clinic. I would recommend them to anyone.

I've had three deep face peels, scar revision on some deep acne scars and skin consultations with him and his staff and my skin now looks the best it has for years after suffering from sun damaged, acne prone skin for a long time I never imagined my skin could look so good.
I've been told the best products to use for my skin type etc.
Highly recommend Mr Ahmad and Cambridge Clear Beauty for all your skin issues and him and all of his staff are highly professional, friendly people who always make you feel welcome.

From the very beginning, Mr Ahmad took the time to listen carefully and make detailed notes, even producing incredibly precise drawings to capture what we discussed. His insights into what would suit my face best were invaluable, and it’s clear that his experience and knowledge guided the outcome.
The results have been outstanding. My nose has healed beautifully, with a natural appearance that feels completely in harmony with my features. Most importantly, I can now breathe freely through both nostrils, which has made a huge difference to my day-to-day life—improving sleep, exercise, and overall wellbeing.
What impressed me further was that Mr Ahmad was able to achieve this through a closed approach, which I understand is particularly challenging, but a testament to his years of expertise and recognition in the field.
Equally, the team around him were fantastic throughout the process. I always felt reassured, supported, and in safe hands at every stage of my treatment.
I am absolutely delighted with the outcome and would wholeheartedly recommend Mr Ahmad. His skill, professionalism, and care have been exceptional.

I did have extensive bruising that was explained by Mr Ahmad would happen. My top eyelids healed fairly quickly but the bottom eyebags are more difficult. Mr Ahmad and Nikki have always answered my questions and have always seen me regularly or when iv had a worry and eased my concerns.
Overall, my eyes are healing now, and after 3 months are doing well and looking much better. Mr Ahmad told me it could take up to a year for my healing process to end.
As it is an invasive surgery I can understand why, but thankfully its getting there and I'm pleased with how my results are starting to look.
I trust Mr Ahmad 100% as he has always been very professional and kind.

Women, in particular, can find this difficult as childbirth causes the abdominal muscles to stretch and separate. An abdominoplasty, more commonly known as a tummy tuck, is a surgical procedure aimed at removing excess skin, small amounts of resistant fatty tissue and tightening up the abdominal muscles. The procedure is suitable for men and women who are at or near their ideal body weight.

A facelift helps you to regain confidence, look better, and feel better. If you’re interested in viewing additional before and after results and having Mr Ahmad assess your specific case while presenting similar examples, please don’t hesitate to reach out for a consultation.
What is a Tummy Tuck?
During a full tummy tuck, Mr Ahmad will make a long incision across the lower abdomen and then make another incision around the belly button to separate it from the surrounding skin. The skin and tissue are then lifted away from the abdominal wall so Mr Ahmad can tighten and stitch the abdominal muscles into place.
Then any fat deposits can be removed, excess skin eliminated and your belly button re-positioned, before the tightened skin is stitched into place. A partial abdominoplasty follows the same technique but only focuses on the area beneath the belly button. Mr Ahmad will also combine an abdominoplasty with liposuction if necessary.
Your stay in hospital is usually determined by the extent of the procedure undertaken. A tummy tuck is performed under general Anaesthetic.
What are the benefits of facelift surgery?
A facelift offers several benefits for those seeking to address signs of facial ageing. Benefits include:
- Lift and tighten sagging skin in the mid and lower face
- Soften deep folds and wrinkles, including smile lines and nasolabial folds
- Reduce creases beneath the lower eyelids
- Improve the appearance of jowls along the jawline
- Enhanced muscle tone and reduction of laxity in the midface and chin area
- Reduction of redundant skin and creases in the neck
Am I a good candidate for facelift surgery?
You may be a suitable candidate for facelift surgery if you’re noticing signs of ageing such as sagging skin, deep folds, jowls, or a loss of definition in the face and neck. Ideal candidates should also be in good general health, do not smoke (or are willing to not smoke before surgery), and have realistic expectations about what a facelift can achieve.

Surgery
Recovery
Recovery from facelift surgery usually takes around 2 to 3 weeks, depending on the extent of the procedure. In the early days, it is normal to experience swelling, a feeling of tightness and some bruising around the cheeks and jawline. These effects gradually improve over the first couple of weeks.
Throughout your recovery, you will attend scheduled follow-up appointments to closely monitor your progress. A team member will also contact you after your procedure to provide ongoing guidance and address any concerns.
Support continues until healing is complete and you are satisfied with your results. Where appropriate, ancillary treatments such as manual lymphatic drainage or nutrition advice may be provided to optimise the healing process.
Results
You will notice an improvement in your facial contours immediately after surgery, although this early result will be affected by swelling and bruising. These temporary effects are expected and typically resolve over the first 2 to 3 weeks as the healing process progresses.
By around six weeks, the tissues continue to soften and relax. Most patients see their final result between four and six weeks, though subtle refinements can continue for several months as the deeper layers fully settle.
Risks and potential complications of facelift surgery
While facelift surgery is generally safe when performed by an experienced plastic surgeon, the specific risks vary depending on the type of facelift, the extent of the procedure, and your individual health. Potential risks and complications may include:
- Bruising and swelling
- Infection
- Scarring
- Bleeding or haematoma
- Numbness or changes in skin sensation
- Asymmetry or irregularities in contour as tissues heal
- Nerve injury, which is rare but can affect movement or sensation
Mr Ahmad will discuss these risks with you in detail during your consultation so you can make a fully informed decision about your treatment.
Tummy Tuck Aftercare
- Depending on your job, you should be able to return to work within 2 to 4 weeks after the operation.
- You can recommence driving once you are able to move freely with no pain and can wear a seat belt comfortably, usually 3 to 4 weeks following surgery.
- Generally exercises such as swimming, aerobics and so on can be recommenced at 6 to 8 weeks following surgery.
- Should you experience undue pain, redness, excessive swelling, a high temperature or feel unwell, please contact the hospital where you had your procedure or your Consultant directly if they have requested you to do so.
- When in bed, 2 to 3 pillows should be placed under your knees to relieve strain from the abdominal muscles.
- When getting out of bed, or from a lying to a sitting position, roll onto your side or front then lift yourself up. This will avoid straining the abdominal muscles.
- The abdominal support garment should be worn day and night for 4 to 6 weeks, as specified by your Surgeon. This may be removed for washing.
- You will find it uncomfortable to cough and laugh. Supporting your abdominal wound with a folded towel can help.
- Avoid constipation by keeping well hydrated and by eating a diet containing roughage (fruit and vegetables).
- Take painkillers as directed, these are usually Paracetamol-based. Please avoid taking any Aspirin-based medications as these can cause bleeding.
- It is important to complete the course of antibiotics provided, if prescribed.
- Initially following surgery you should walk slightly bent forward, to take the strain off the abdominal muscles.
- Gradually over a week you can start to walk more upright. Gentle daily exercise is recommended.
- Please refrain from smoking as this prevents good wound healing.
- Domestic chores such as vacuuming and ironing, plus heavy lifting should be avoided for 4 to 6 weeks.
- Your abdomen will be swollen and bruised initially. This will gradually disappear. Swelling can take up to 6 months to completely dissipate.
- A lack of sensation to the abdominal area is normal, with sensation returning over a period of several months.
- Wound dressings should be kept intact and dry until your follow-up appointment.
- Advice about showering/bathing and care of the wound will be given at your follow-up appointments.
- Dissolvable stitches are usually used to the main abdominal scar.
- Sutures around the umbilicus (navel) may need to be removed. This will be done at your follow-up appointment.

Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about facelift surgery. For more specific enquiries, please contact us.
How long does a facelift last?
The results of a facelift are long-lasting, with many patients maintaining a more youthful facial contour for 10 to 15 years. While the procedure does not halt the natural ageing process, it significantly rejuvenates the facial structures, meaning patients typically continue to appear more youthful than they otherwise would as ageing progresses.
How does a facelift work?
A facelift addresses both the deeper facial structures and the overlying skin. During the procedure, the SMAS layer (the supportive tissue beneath the skin) is carefully lifted and tightened to restore facial definition. The skin is then repositioned, with any excess gently removed. This layered approach creates natural, long-lasting rejuvenation without a pulled or overstretched appearance.
How long does it take to recover from a facelift?
Most patients require approximately two to three weeks to recover from facelift surgery. Swelling, bruising and tightness are expected during the initial phase and steadily improve over this period. Many people feel able to resume work and social activities after about three weeks, although the final result continues to refine for several months as tissues settle fully.
How is a facelift done?
A facelift is usually performed under general anaesthetic. Discreet incisions are placed around the ear and, in some cases, within the hairline. Through these incisions, the deeper facial layers are repositioned and tightened, and the skin is carefully redraped with excess removed. The procedure is completed with fine sutures and appropriate dressings.
What does a facelift do?
A facelift improves visible signs of facial ageing by lifting sagging tissues, reducing jowls, softening deep folds and restoring definition to the mid and lower face. When combined with a neck lift, it can also improve neck contour. The goal of surgery is to create a rejuvenated and refined appearance while maintaining your natural facial character.
How soon after surgery can I attend a special event or go on holiday?
We generally recommend allowing at least six weeks between your procedure and any important event, such as a wedding, special celebration, or planned holiday. This gives your body sufficient time to heal and allows swelling or bruising to settle, so you can feel confident and comfortable.
If you are planning to travel, particularly long-haul or overseas, we also advise waiting a minimum of six weeks before flying. This helps ensure a smooth recovery and reduces the chance of travel disruption should you require any additional post-operative care. Your surgeon will discuss the most appropriate timing for your procedure during your consultation to help you plan ahead with confidence.
