If you’re looking into what we consider to be more serious surgery like a breast augmentation (using a general anaesthetic versus a local) then here are some tips for you when it comes to recovering from the procedure. Every person is different and their body will react in different ways, however there are a number of predictable recovery stages that we can plan for.

These generally last for about three months. Immediately after the procedure, there is likely to be some pain, swelling and bruising. The pain should disappear quickly, but the swelling may take a couple of weeks to fully go down. One week off work would be advisable, as well as six weeks off from sport – especially anything high impact. After about three months 90% of the recovery process should be done.

  1. REST: Are you able to commit to the six week period of no-sport? Have you spoken to your work about time-off?

  1. PLANNING: Have you planned the first week or two after your procedure? Remember to book some time off work to rest and recover. We advise a week minimum, in order to support your recovery.

  1. PAIN MANAGEMENT: Naturally, there will be discomfort, pain and soreness after this procedure. It’s normal, but a little frustrating if you haven’t planned properly for it. Your surgeon can give you painkillers if needed, but if you want to take any more prescription-only medicine, you need to speak to your doctor first

  1. SCHEDULE POST-OP CHECK UPS IN GOOD TIME: It is vital to ensure that your body is healing how it should. Ensure that you speak with your surgeon about fitting this into your schedule.

  1. HAVE SOME HELP: If you’re running the household, a practical tip is to have some help from a friend or partner with basic chores that might put a strain on your body.

These would be our top 5 tips for recovery after breast augmentation but please do let us know if there are any alternatives that you have used or work for you.

Like a breaking voice, hair where there wasn’t any before and an outbreak of zits, gynaecomastia can be one of the facts of life for a teenage boy.

It’s a rather scary-sounding name for a hard yet tender swelling behind the nipples that give the impression of breasts, brought about by hormonal changes.

In most cases, the condition calms down and eventually goes away as you finish your transformation from boy to man. But sometimes it doesn’t.

Why won’t gynaecomastia go away?

Gynaecomastia – otherwise known as ‘man-boobs’, or worse – is often dismissed as the inevitable result of a poor diet and little to no exercise, but that isn’t always the case.

True, the chest area is one of the first parts of the male body to take on and store fat during weight gain, but what explains the lean and fit people who still have breast-like protuberances, which are even more prominent when the rest of their upper bodies are as trim as can be?

There are a number of possible reasons for gynaecomastia, but most of them are linked to an increase in the oestrogen hormone – this can be due to natural hormonal changes in the body, or as a result of a particular medication.

How do I get rid of them?

Cosmetic surgery is the simplest and most effective way to reduce the shape and contour of your chest. The method most commonly used is a minor liposuction procedure, followed by a removal of the prominent breast tissue. Yes, there will be scarring around the nipple, but extremely minor (and eventually undetectable, if you have chest hair).

Gynaecomastia is more common than you might think – but so is male breast reduction surgery. It’s an incredibly simple and a hugely effective procedure, with the bare minimum of time taken out of your day-to-day routine.

If you’re considering a male breast reduction in Cambridge, our advice is to book a consultation with us at your earliest convenience.

We’re fast approaching the end of the year and the never-ending carousel of parties and functions – but are you ready to fit into those dresses? Maybe CoolSculpting can help.

With the current trend veering towards strapless dresses, even the most toned of us are experiencing unsightly bulges in places we’d rather not have them – and as the endless photos of celebs displaying underarm-chub confirm, it’s not always easy to carry off the latest styles, no matter how good you’ve been in the gym and the kitchen.

Baby, it’s cold inside

Here’s where CoolSculpting can help – the revolutionary non-invasive treatment for stubborn fat – comes into its own. It’s not a quick-fix fat reduction procedure, like liposuction: it’s for people who already take care of themselves through a healthy diet and regular exercise who find there are certain areas that refuse to let go of stubborn fat, like muffin tops and bingo wings.

Instead of sucking fat out, it hones in on problem areas with incredible precision, destroys the fat cells by freezing them, and then hands the job over to your body’s natural metabolic functions to flush them out safely and effectively. And once gone, problematic fat cells don’t come back.

Finish the year in shape and in style with CoolSculpting

Because people usually see results after three weeks or so, with the full effect occurring a couple of months after treatment, now is the time to discover the benefits of CoolSculpting just in time for party season.

And if you’re already thinking about your New Year resolutions and how you’d like to look in 2017, and there’s a particular part of your body you want to shape, or you want to find out more about what CoolSculpting can do for you, now’s the time to book a consultation.
