Where and how can fillers be used in the face?

Fillers can be permanent or temporary. Generally I don’t like to use permanent fillers as permanent materials, if they cause a problem with cause a permanent problem. The advantage of a temporary filler is that if there is a problem it will be temporary. The disadvantage of a temporary filler is that if you like it, it is temporary.

Fillers now come in different forms and some are more long lasting than others; also they last differing amounts of time depending on where you place them so you will need to discuss this with your surgeon. The areas that fillers are most used for at the lips, the nasolabial folds or creases between nose and mouth, the rather unkindly named marionette lines going down from the corners of the mouth, the cheeks and jowls and between the eyebrows. More recently fat grafting techniques allow you to use your own body tissues to achieve a better long lasting effect this needs special expertise.

Hectic modern life means that with time the face loses volume leading to wrinkles and sagging. That’s upsetting because it can make you look older and tired, even when you are not. That’s not fair or right! The latest techniques for safely placing tissue fillers can help not only to restore what’s been lost: if you really know anatomy (hint - we do), fillers can be used to lift, to fill, to smooth. Get some of the old ‘you’ back so you can show off, not hide your charm and character!
