What is a Facelift?
For men and women keen to turn back the hands of time, face lift surgery is increasingly popular. Here, Mr Ahmad reviews the facelift. Please view video below:
Hello, my name is Tariq Ahmad and I’m a consultant of plastic, reconstructive and cosmetic surgeon.
I’ve been undertaking cosmetic facial surgery for over 15 years. I would just like to take a few minutes to talk about the operation of facelift. Now non-surgical facial treatments such as Botox and fillers have come a long way since I became a consultant, but for some people, a facelift is the answer as you can address many parts of the head and neck. You can address the jowls, a sagging neck and facial folds and wrinkles.
A facelift involves varying levels of incision but the scars are usually well concealed in the skin crease in front of the ear and then the depth of the crease behind the ear. During the operation the skin is separated from the underlying deeper structures. Those deeper structures can then be tightened and lifted in a different direction to the overlying skin, this helps in achieving balance and harmony and a natural final outcome.
A pure facelift can take three or four hours depending on the extent, it can involve other techniques such as liposuction and suture suspension. In fact I also specialise in one of the latest techniques to come from Beverly Hills, the so-called eye guide or trampoline necklift. This involves much less surgery but you can achieve a really fantastic result in the shape and profile of the neck.
